We had a good session at the residency this week. Last week we looked at, or rather listened to, the sounds language makes and how that can affect mood, pace etc…This week we focused on voice. We looked at some children’s books. Granpa – which is made up of snippets of conversations John Burningham overheard between his father and his daughter. We also looked at True Story of the Three Little Pigs and the beautifully illustrated Night Iceberg. But I also got to read one of my favourite poems – This is Just to Say by William Carlos Williams. Some one said it was like a Marks and Spencer ad – which it SO is! Amazing how much information you can gleen from so few words. I also have to show you this from the J Peterman sales catalogue… Every item of clothing is a narrative.
